Sun, 15th May 2011  New Delhi: The battle for hearts and minds is now being fought on Twitter. The Taliban is tweeting, a spokesperson says, because of it's popularity in the western world.
The twitter handle for Taliban is '@alemarahweb' and their tweets are mainly in Pashto, but also in English. The Islamist extremists sent out their first English tweet was on May 12 claiming 'enemy attacked in khak-e-safid'.
The NATO-led coalition force in Afghanistan on Saturday tweeted to say, "What's that? Taliban's tweeting in English? Lies are lies no matter the language."
Taliban is already seeming to be a hit on Twitter with over four thousand followers.  |
