Thu, 28th Oct 2010  Kanpur: Three people have been killed and some others injured in an explosion in one of the staff quarters of a community health center in Kanpur. The explosion took place inside the health centre, which is at 12 Sirohi Road of Kanpur at around 2 PM.
Uttar Pradesh ADGP Brij Lal said that the explosion was caused by fire crackers, which were being manufactured in one of the houses at the health centre.
"Three bodies have been recovered and three injured have been sent to hospital. The ATS team is at the site. It seems illegal firecrackers were being manufactured in the house where the explosion took place," said Lal.
Kanpur DIG Prem Prakash ruled out any terror angle in the explosion and added that fire crackers were the cause of the blast.
"This is in the staff quarters of Health Center. We don’t know how it happened. The roof of the house collapsed. Fire crackers may be the reason. Many are still inside," Prakash told CNN-IBN.
Ten people are still reported to be trapped inside the two-story building.  |
