Thu, 3rd Jun 2010 New Delhi: Pakistan will have more nuclear warheads than India very soon, according to a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Foundation.
The report says Pakistan has 60 nuclear warheads and can produce 100 more at a very short notice. It says Pakistan is on line to increase its warhead production seven fold when two new plutonium producing reactors go on stream in Khushab.
The report estimates that India has around 60 or 70 nuclear warheads.
The report also says Pakistan is developing an air launched cruise missile called Raad and has already completed four tests of the Babur cruise missile. But the report is unsure whether either missile can carry nuclear warheads.
Pakistan's nuclear inventory is courtesy China, which is known to have handed over blueprints of missiles it has already developed and began with the M11 missiles more than a decade ago. Rogue atomic scientist AQ Khan is also linked up with North Korea for improving Pakistan's nuclear arsenal. |
