Mon, 4th Jan 2010  Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda on Monday recommended withdrawal of former state DGP S P S Rathore's police medal in a letter to Home Minister P Chidambaram.
PS Rathore was convicted of molesting 15-year-old Ruchika Girhotra on August 12, 1990 and sentenced to six months' imprisonment on December 21, 2009. Rathore was immediately granted bail.Earlier too, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is understood to have rejected the view of top administrative and police officials, who appeared reluctant to book Rathore for having allegedly forced teenager Ruchika Girhotra to commit suicide in 1993.
Ruchika, a tennis player, committed suicide in 1993 unable to cope with the harassment of her family and alleged torture of her brother by the Haryana Police, which slapped false charges of car theft against him.  |
