Tue, 22nd Jan 2008  It seems that sardars and turbans are back in fashion. Once upon a time there was only a Daler Mehndi who dared to make the turban a style statement. Now it seems that Akshay Kumar proudly sports one in Singh Is King. The latest to join the turban club is none other than Salman Khan.
Salman will sport a turban in Samir Karnik's multistarrer, Heroes, where he will be essaying the role of a sardar for the first time. Salman's sardar character is a military official in this road-trip movie. It seems that when the co-producer of the film showed the film's teaser promos to a select audience, the actor went almost unnoticed with his beard and turban. People could not recognize him. It was initially supposed to be the surprise element of the film. Once the promos hit the town, Salman's new look is bound to be the talk of the town. Salman grew his beard for three weeks, thus making his look all the more authentic. He did not want to just stick on a false beard. Heroes also stars Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Sohail Khan, Preity Zinta, Mithun Chakraborty and Amrita Arora. The film is being jointly produced by Samir Karnik and Vikas Kapoor. Heroes also marks the return of film financier Bharat Shah, who is presenting the film. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on May 1.  |
